Malgusto T-shirt Store

Malgusto was a movie related t-shirt brand and online store I created with illustrator Marga Martinez. If you are interested you can read the story behind the brand in this other article.

The (big)cartel

For the web we went with the Bigcartel online platform, Bigcartel was a really cheap and convenient way to avoid to mess with hosting ourselves an online store, that way we could focus in creating the T-shirts and running the store.

The design of the store took me quite a while, since I have to learn how the templates for the platform worked and create some workarounds for things like making the shop multi-language (well, just two languages).

Keeping it simple

From the start I had in mind a clear, simple and unobtrusive design that let the art speak for itself, and that visitors knew undoubtedly that they were in a T-shirt store when they hit the page. I accomplished this presenting just images of the T-shirts with the price on the homepage. I used a grid to keep things consistent and clear.

Another challenge was to make the sizing chart and shipping charges not detract from the flow of the purchase, I used modal windows to solve this.

Trading cards and goodies

I also created the images for the brand presence in social networks, as well as some 'offline' materials, like stickers, postcards and trading cards. It was lot of fun and we put a lot of work and care into all the promotional materials.

The page is still online here, although all the t-shirts are sold so i don't know for how long we will keep it online, it's a shame I can't archive it due to it depending on the Bigcartel engine.
